Word Problems:
1) A gardener has a hose which is 15.5 meters long. It gets a holder at one end so he cuts off 4.8 meters. How long is the hose now? 10.7

2) Jodie can jump 3.4 meters. Her sister jumped 1.8 meters less than that. How far did her sister jump? 1.6

3) Ben has a roll of tape which is 13.4 meters long. He has used 6.2 meters. How much tape does he have left? 7.2

4) A tree is 18.5 meters tall. They need to make the tree 4.7 meters shorter. How tall will the tree be then? 13.8

5) A building is 68.7 meters tall including the flag pole. The flag pole is 4.8 meters tall. How tall would the building be if the flag pole was removed? 63.9

6) A larger water container at work holds 35.6 liters of water. If the staff drink 7.3 liters of water at morning tea how much water will be left? 28.3

7) A car has 25.6 liters of petrol in its tank. Its uses 9.8 liters of petrol. How much petrol is left? 15.8

8) A 56.3 metre yellow line must be painted down the side of the road. They have already painted 29.9 metres of the line. How much more must they pain? 26.4

9) I had 27.3 metres of rope but 8.7 metres broke off the end. How much rope do I have left? 18.6
