Staying Cybersmart.

This afternoon Mrs Kyla came into our maths classes and talked to us about being cyber smart online and where ever you go. So this is my own Google drawing work that I have created about being cyber smart online.

Smart Surfing.

This morning Mrs Kyla came in to class 4 to talk to u about Smart surfing and using loads of key words. We were learning to use Google smarty, we had to make sure we typed what we wanted to make sure we get the results we wanted.

Creating My Personal Logo.

This week for reading our task was that we had to create our own personal logo that represents our culture and ourselves. Here was my brainstorm of how I made my logo step by step.

Progression.

This is my reading progress to improve my reading I have to do the right thing during reading time and always finish off my work in the right time. For reading this week I have to get my work finish on time and publish on my blog.

a) What the articles were about? This articles is about a technology that is created by Samsonite.
b) What you found most interesting? The part that I found interesting is how Samsonite created a luggage that you can control with your phone.
c) Weather or not you would want a smart suitcase? I would want a suitcase like Samsonite its because instead of carrying your suitcase you can just control it with your own phone.

ANZAC Movie.

This term we have been learning about the ANZAC soldiers and WW 1.  In our literacy class, we have been reading different stories about the things that happened during the war. What I found interesting is that they use to Geophones to keep track of their enemies. A geophone is something with an ear piece connected to the geophone. At the end of the geophone their is a disc shape microphone that connects to the ear piece and when you move on disc around you can hear what they are saying or doing.

My writing group decided to write a movie script to show some of the things we learnt about WW 1.  Our movie is about Anzac and how the soldiers went to World War 1 to fight for their country. What I couldn't imagine is the people who starved and the people that were cold and had no place to stay over night.

ANZAC Memorial at Pt England school.

Pt England school was really blessed to have there own memorial to celebrate the 100th years of ANZAC day. ANZAC day is a really important time to celebrate the soldiers that died for us in the war.

Referring to the title of the text what do you think the article is about? I think its about a car called Go red and the car is racing someone so thats why the car is called Go Red.

Why do Saturday’s start early for Alice? Is because she is in a football team and her dad Frank is the coach so he goes to the field and organise the stuff for the team.

What does Alice enjoy being a part of, for what reason do you believe she enjoys this? The reason she likes being part of this is because she likes being the backline for there team because she enjoys it.

What does the goal weigh? What do you think Ashleigh is doing when she says this. Think about if the goal were to literally weigh this, would it be even possible for Ashleigh to lift it? No because when they were getting ready and getting the nets ready Ashleigh lifted up the goal and said the net weights a ton it means its really heavey.

How do you think the girls are feeling prior to their game? Is that they are feeling maybe nervous at the start but when they are playing they might be just alright.Put yourself in their shoes, how would you feeling/ how do you feel before playing a netball or rugby game? When I am ready for a game like Netball or Rugby I get really nervous and scared because people is watching and I get really shy sometimes.

“Jessica jumps high and deflects the ball” what does this mean? It means she stopped the ball coming into the net and she touched it with her fingernails and she defended the ball.

What are the girls doing prior to their game starting? Is that they are practicing some ball skills and practicing how to block the ball from coming.  Refer to the images at the top of page 6. For what reason are they doing this? The reason they are doing this is because they want to get better and also they are practicing because they want to win.

Frank urges the girls to not give up, what does it mean when you urge someone to do something? Urges means hes trying to make his team not give up and so they can try there best and not give up thats what it means.

In most sports games there is always a referee, what is the role of the referee? Is that in every game you have to listen to the referee because if you don’t you will get a red card or yellow card. Why is a referee so important? Every game there is always a referee because they are the people that knows the game really well and they also know the rules.

What are three very important characters a person needs to have to be part of a sports team.

1) Good attitude and that will behave and listen to the coach at all times.

2) Turn up to all trainings at all time and have good manners.

3) And bring the right gear to the game.

From reading the text, do you think soccer is a difficult game to play?  Why/why not. I think it is because you have to always use your feet to try to get to the goal but you are not allow to touch the ball with your hands.

Why do you think soccer is more popular in some countries instead of some others? Because its maybe was originated in that country and it is a new to some countries because we just heard that game but maybe other countries have heard the game called soccer before.

Who is a famous soccer player, state five facts about them.

From reading the text we know that different soccer players have different positions, what do you think would be the most difficult position to play and why? It would be the defensive position because you have to defend the person to get the ball.

Rahi.

WALT: Identify the key ideas within the text

The text, has been retold but Sue Gibbison, however it is based on someone elses version. What do we know about stories that are retold? A story is that its retold is maybe like a myth that was passed on for generation. What is another name of them? Is that it can be passed on to anyone in the world and they can retell it to there family and there family can also pass it go to generation to generation.

Give an example of a folk story that you know. Is that its a mario story. What is the main idea and event of that story. See if you can research and find the history of that story? Is that the story is about someone rescuing his wife from a huge wind because maybe a huge wind took the wife somewhere where he couldn't find her at all.

Identify all words within the text that you are unsure of and research to find the meanings of them. What does Hokioi mean? It means is that its pronounced spelt in the North Island so its Spelt.

Using this Venn Diagram - display the differences between a myth legend and a factual story. Is a Myth is a fake story and a Factual is kind of like a  real story so thats what it is . Thats what Myth and factual mean.

For what reason had put a spell on the forest? So he can burn the forest so Rahi can’t see and so other people that knows Rahi and Tiara can’t go to recuse Tiara so the big bird burnt  the forest so he can’t see anything. - what is this a common case of? The common case of is that Rahi is trying to save his wife from the big Manu Tangata blew Tiara somewhere that they don’t know where she is.

Why had the god of wind sent a breeze that lifted Rahi? So Rahi can find his wife and so the wind can lift Rahi up to the sky so Rahi can easily find his wife because the huge wind took Tiara somewhere so Rahi can’t find him so thats why someone lifted the big breeze up in the sky so Rahi can find his wife.

Who helped Rahi he he was dehydrated and exhausted? For what reason do you think this character helped Rahi? Is because they know each other and the other person wants to help rahi because they are friends and they care for each other and also they help each other together.

Who trapped Rahi, how did Rahi escape? The person that trapped Rahi was the mean big Lizard trapped him because he hates Rahi. Rahi escape because he used his big wings and flapped them so he can try to get out and he did.

Is this story realistic?  Why/ why not? No because in the picture of the book is that someone was drawing the picture and they may be made up the story and thought its real but I think its not realistic.

Rahi is the name of my character that I chose in this book and he is 32 years old the reason I like him as a character is because he is strong and he helps other people when they are stuck and the reason I have selected this character is because he is the main person in the book so thats why I have chosen him.

Retell the main events in the text: Is that Rahi is a big massive bird thats is strong and the a big lizard comes and trappe him because he is the best and strong and after when the lizard went Rahi tryed and tryed to get him out and he did because he used his big two wings and tried to get out and he did.

Where had Rahi and his people found Tiara? After Rahi got out of the gate Rahi found his way back home and gathered his tribe to help him search for Tiara. At last they found the volcano where Ti Ara was hidden inside the volcano.

What had they done once they had found her? Is that they blocked the volcano so know one doesn’t go and hide there anymore because someone might go and get trapped in there again like Tiara. For what reason do you think they did this? The reason they did this is because maybe they didn’t want Rahi to marry Tiara and because they maybe wants to kill Tiara because thats what I think.

What does Ki represent in Ki-O-Rahi? It represents something in Maori like something about Rahi it might also represent in Maori.

What does Rahi represent in Ki-O-Rahi? Rahi represents something in Maori and its a name thats in a story. Rahi is also an important name that most Maori’s use like in the story.

Is the river a popular place to gather? Why?

Yes because it is where you can travel and try something knew, but in the mean time it would be tiring because it is one of the largest river.

How do we know that school is China keeps students occupied during the week? We know because it says in the text that some kids is not allow to go home and some kids are allow to go home because there prantens doesn't work at all. But the prantens that works and works far they have to stay at home and have lunch at school.

What does a Chinese child’s school day consist of? Is that in weekdays, classes start at 8 a.m, and school finishes at 5 p.m. Each classes is forty five minutes long, with only a ten minute break between classes not enough time to play.

How do you feel about the hours that children in China attend school. Why do you feel this way? The reason I feel this way is because I feel sorry for the kids in china because they have school for ten hours and they have more learning and also they have to wake up early in the morning to get to school fast because where they live is fast.

Do you think it would be beneficial if schools in New Zealand were to have hours as long as schools in China? It will be really beneficial because kids in New Zealand will not be able to handle this long of school because mostly schools in New Zealand are only used to 8 hours of school.

What is a monitors role? A monitor role is that they have to wear a red scarves, and there job is that they have to stand outside and welcome kids and teachers that is new to the school and when they come very morning to school.

How long do students in China have to do homework for every night? The student in china have homework for 1 hour per week but Hau Yan homework is that he has to copy of chinese handwriting and trying to speak Zhang Tian.

How does this compare to how long you do learning at home for? It compares likely exactly the same because after they come back from school they have a break and then they go back to learning and doing their homework which is really boring and cool at the same time because they have to do their homework every night for 1 hour.

At New Zealand the hours of school is different because In New Zealand we only have 7 hours of school and at china you guys have school for 10 hours and 1 hour at home. The subjects we have here is reading and writing which  we do that in the morning and maths after morning tea and also we have Inquiry which is after lunch. Also what we have here is that we are a Manaiakalani school and we have netbook that we can just work online and our teacher can see what we are doing and also we don’t work on papers all our work is on our netbooks. What we also have is kids get picked from teachers to go and play other schools for sports like Rugby, Touch, Volley ball, Kiwi sport and heaps of other things. By Asena.
